Frederick County MD Parents Request Release of Allocated Education Funds Totaling $3.2M
This petition had 684 supporters
Frederick County Government is moving forward to FULLY fund education in Frederick County, but now we NEED Governor Hogan's support.
Frederick leaders funded education above Maintenance Of Effort (MOE) for the first time in years only to see a $3.2 million cut from the state. Frederick's Board of Education has been forced to make some difficult cuts with rising costs and struggling budgets.
Painful cuts have been made 2015/2016 including:
- Class size increase
- 82 positions lost
- 9th Grade Sports
- Summer School Reduction
- Extended Learning Opportunities (assists at risk students)
- Textbook Reduction
- Choir Classes
- Advanced Placement Classes (college credit)
There Is Hope!!
We now need to rally and ask Gov Hogan to release Frederick education funds ($3.2M). These funds are being held specifically for Frederick County and can only be allocated to Frederick County this fiscal year. All we need is Governor Hogan's support. These additional funds will not solve all of Frederick's education budget deficits but we have to start somewhere. This effort will help communicate to the state that Frederick parents need full funding for our children's education and future.
Parents have to come together on this one! We have HOPE with numbers!! Please help with the following:
- Sign this Petition to Gov Hogan to release $3.2M in education funds to Frederick County MD.
- Email Gov Hogan asking him to release the funds to Frederick Students. Use this FORM to email him.
- Attend 6/23 rally at Winchester Hall 4pm-6pm (Wear your school colors!)
