PROPER DISPOSAL OF DECEASED ANIMALS

The Issue

On Tuesday June 7th, 2018 an individual went to Lawrence County Animal Control to turn in paperwork on her dog.  She noticed a horrific smell and went to investigate the smell. Upon looking into the dumpster she found a dog wrapped in a sheet with its mouth duct taped shut and deceased.  A picture was taken and posted on facebook and starting going around.  An Animal Control Officer named Mark responsed and stated, the dog was euthanized for biting two people and "that has always been the county procedure for animal disposal".  No matter what a dog has done, this is not the proper way to dispose of an animal!!! Other local animal shelters take the animal to a local vet office for cremation and do not just throw them away like they mean nothing at all!! This needs to change immediately!!!
