Climate change is progressively becoming a bigger issue as the public becomes more informed- but what can we as individuals do to help combat such wasteful habits? One of the biggest things we can do is pay attention to what we are buying and the materials it is made out of. Products made of styrofoam or polystyrene never degrade into the planet, meaning the styrofoam cups you buy will sit on this earth forever. Once I found this out, I made the conscious decision to stop buying things made out of styrofoam. Despite personal choices this wasteful material is still being sold in massive quantities, filling up 30% of our landfills. It is time for this issue to be dealt with beyond the hands of the individuals- Styrofoam should be banned from business use as there are many sustainable alternatives.
