LAUSD School Board: Change the time of regular school board mtgs from 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm

Regular meetings of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education (or “LAUSD School Board”) occur at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. This start time is not public friendly as many stakeholders within LAUSD are working or attending classes.

A more convenient time for LAUSD School Board participation would promote public engagement. Changing the time from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. would allow parents, teachers and other school employees, students and community members to attend and more fully participate in important decisions about the education of children.

I just signed the following petition addressed to the LAUSD School Board.

We, the undersigned, petition to change the time of regular meetings of the LAUSD School Board from the daytime to 6:30 p.m. so that parents, teachers and other school employees, students and community members can attend and more fully participate in important decisions about the education of our children. We live and/or work within the Los Angeles Unified School District; we are impacted by its decision-making and want to be able to more fully participate in its Board of Education regular meetings.

Sincerely,
