Supporters, to keep it short and sweet: The Minden (STRONG) Hills Community rallied and lobbied around the outrageous course of action, to close the childcare centre, that was taken by the OEYC Board of Directors with this petition, phone calls, social media posts, e-mails and of course face to face conversations. After many sleepless nights the efforts have been rewarded with a new service provider in place and all the existing staff moved over in what I consider to be described as a "SALE OF A BUSINESS." Is this perfect? NO Should this have ever happened to our community and these parents and children? NO Is there more work to be done with the transition? YES But today the suns shines a little bit brighter and the sky is just bit nicer shade of blue because once again the community of Minden Strong showed what it can and will do when required. It's time for a celebration of this sweet victory, a victory that shall be remembered for years to come. The parents referred to this hell beginning at 4:17 pm on June 15th and hopefully this day, June 21, 2018 will be considered equally noteworthy for everyone involved. Richard Bradley - signing off from Moore Falls of Minden Strong!!! Posted on Thursday June 21, 2018 City confirms new agreement at the Children’s Learning Centre in Minden Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes is pleased to confirm that an agreement has been signed between the Ontario Early Years Centre Haliburton Victoria Brock Inc. and Compass Early Learning and Care. The agreement will allow Compass to use the existing child care space on Prentice Street in Minden to provide licensed child care starting Monday June 25, 2018. This will provide for continued care for all existing children and families enrolled at the Children’s Learning Centre. Current approved fee subsidies for eligible families will continue without interruption. Families will be contacted by City staff in the coming weeks if any changes in agreements or paperwork are required. Should families have any further questions about their subsidies, they can contact their Child Care Needs Assessor at 705-324-9870. Compass Early Learning and Care is a non-profit, charitable corporation dedicated to providing excellence in early learning and care for children. Provincial and municipal staff are ensuring that all required licensing, inspections and service agreements are in place. - 30 -
