End Sparkalaphobia On Widener University's Campus, Make Glitter Great Again!!

For centuries, glitter has been integral in global culture, expression, and art. Recently my University's Office of Student Life made the disturbing decision to ban glitter from our campus that we call home. This pivotal decision will cause undue stress and anxiety on campus. It directly discriminates against cultures that treasure glitter as a traditional means of expression and art, as well as discriminates against our campus' female population as sororities are the primary users of glitter. How are we to break free of the patriarchy when campus policies suppress specific groups of human beings? I also fear that this is subtle homophobic micro aggression. Furthermore, I attended this university to become a citizen of the world and become more immersed in new and exciting cultures. This dream has been stripped from me as the cultures I sought to explore and learn from are being marginalized by this subtle micro aggression. This university is supposed to be a place of inclusiveness where people need not live in fear for being stripped of their basic crafting supplies. #notmyofficeofstudentlife #noban #beingglitterisnotacrime #glitterisglitter
