Each day, my daughter steps out the door to wait for her school bus, never knowing if it's running on time or not. As a mother, I am not alone in this struggle - I've talked to lots of parents in the neighborhood. With increasing traffic congestion, new drivers,or no drivers at all, these buses often run late, providing unnecessary stress to both the child and parents. The day before I'm writing this,a girl in Cheltenham, was attacked waiting for the school bus, by 3 adults in a car, they took her phone and book bag, It was the third incident in a week and it could have a lot worse than a phone and bag. To try to eliminate this rick, we are calling for a school bus tracking app that would allow parents and kids to know the real-time location of the school bus. This technology is not new. Many cities/counties around us, Bensalem and Neshaminy to name a few,have already have such systems, vastly improving parent's confidence in the timing of school bus pickups and drop-offs. It's time we ensure our children's safety and minimize the tension surrounding the uncertainty of school bus timings.
