"Last Mile, First Step: Metro Bus Feeders instead of metro line from Vega Mall -Jp nagar
The Issue
As a resident of Bangalore for the past 25 years, I have seen the city evolve and grow, giving me many opportunities. Every corner of our beloved city holds a story, and each one of those stories involves our lush, magnificent greenery. Unfortunately, I have also witnessed the decline of our urban green cover, seeing trees getting cut down to make way for developments.
There is a project proposed for phase 3 metro between Vegacity mall and Kempapura. This proposed metro line, although intended to improve connectivity, will inevitably lead to more trees being axed. While I understand that the metro is essential for last-mile connectivity, in this case, there’s a viable alternative that could avoid the loss of more trees, and that is implementing a bus feeder system.
I propose a 2.5 km bus feeder route between Vega mall and JP nagar metro. Replacing the metro segment with this bus feeder route can save many trees, help preserve our city's biodiversity and reduce the costs related to land acquisition and other activities for the Government.
But, for this to happen, we need your help. This isn't just about protecting the environment; it's also about preserving Bangalore's soul – its trees. This city has given all of us countless opportunities, and now it's our turn to give back.
I urge you to join me in asking the transport authorities to consider this alternative. Let's unite and voice our concern for Bengaluru's green cover - our city is worth it. Please sign this petition to implement a bus feeder system and help save Bangalore's biodiversity.
