Oracle Employees for Ethics Instructions
and Further Actions (Internal Use Only)
What We’re Doing: No Ethics / No Work
On Thursday, February 20, 2020, the day after the planned fundraiser, we suggest all employees log off at noon local time to spend time volunteering or donating to programs and efforts that aim to resist administration policies that go against Oracle’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
See How to Take Action for ways to participate in this event, as well as suggested organizations and causes to explore.
How to Participate / Before You Log Off
As a courtesy, please let your coworkers, managers and/or project managers know that you will not be available for work on Thursday, February 20 after 12pm local time.
Please set your out of office notification on voicemail, Beehive, Aria, Slack and any other programs you use to communicate with colleagues on a daily basis.
Sample Out of Office notification:
I am currently participating in No Ethics / No Work by devoting my afternoon to community service and will not be available for the rest of the day. Inspired by the organized walkouts of other tech companies, this logoff is a collective effort to reaffirm Oracle’s Code of Ethics and hold our leaders accountable. Share Your Plans with Us!
Let us know how you’re protesting this fundraiser and taking action. Donating to a charity you’ve always wanted to support? Spending time at a school or shelter? Knocking on doors for your favorite local candidate before the primaries? Shoot us a note and, if you’ve got ’em, pictures or videos on our Slack channel #oracleemployeesforethics.
Important: Not able to log off? That’s ok! We get it.
You can still participate by supporting your favorite cause/programs or any of the efforts we listed on our website – whenever you’re ready.
You can also become a part of the Oracle Volunteering program. Search for projects that you can join, or create a project that you lead. Anyone at Oracle can become a project leader. The Oracle Volunteering program is predicated on the idea that employees will volunteer for service projects because the cause matters to them, or to bond outside of work with local employees for morale and team development, or to contribute to a common cause within the community.
Go to http://volunteer.oracle.com and click on the link Create a project. All projects need to be tied to a charitable organization. If you don't see your org in the list, you can request to add the group that you want to work with. Just remember that Oracle Volunteering supports approved nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, and select governmental organizations (e.g. educational institutions), that are not political, religious or fraternal in intent and do not place volunteers at risk.

Oracle Volunteering thrives on the passions and interests of its project leaders because project ideas come from us. Leading projects is a great way to get to know coworkers across the organization who share common interests, and direct support to meaningful causes that matter to you, in your community.
Thanks for your interest, participation and time!
