The Issue

Animals spend their entire lives on fur farms in small wire cages that are not much bigger than their bodies, leading to much stress and depression. They are deprived of food, water, comfort, and other basic needs. Some animals are strangled, electrocuted, bludgeoned, and starved to death. Some are even skinned alive.

According to the New York Times, 73 percent of 2015s 436 fashion shows featured fur (New York, Paris, Milan and London fashion week). The number of fur products in stores grows each year.

The most popular designers that use fur include:

1. Alexander Wang

2. Balenciaga

3. Burberry

4. Dior

5. Fendi

6. Karl Lagerfeld

7. Louis Vuitton

8. Valentino

9. Prada

10. Yves Saint Laurent

Top fashion magazines like Vogue have many articles encouraging the use of fur, writing articles like “How to wear mink fur all year round,” and “The Best shaggy coats for the season.” The magazine encourages designers like those listed to continue the production of fur items by including their products throughout the magazine.

Celebrities wearing fur promote and reinforce this cruel practice. Because of the influence these high-profile celebrities have over the media, they keep the animal fur and skin look in fashion.

Some of the most influential celebrities that wear fur include:

1. The Kardashians

2. Kanye West

3. Beyonce

4. Rihanna

5. Lady Gaga

6. Jennifer Lopez

7. Madonna

8. Kate Moss

Instead of using their influential status to speak against the fur trade, they promote these brutal practices by continuing to wear fur products.

Some of the most popular fur-free designers include:

1. Armani

2. Calvin Klein

3. Stella McCartney

4. Ralph Lauren

5. Tommy Hilfiger

There are plenty of cruelty free products that keep you warm so please don’t support this industry. There is no need to wear animal furs or skins!
