Let's Keep Langley's Inclusive Ordinance Moving Forward! Join Us at City Council this Monday, 4/17

On March 20, the Langley City Council and Mayor presented a draft Inclusive City ordinance to a standing room only crowd at the Langley United Methodist Church. Many meeting-goers responded that evening by stepping forward to share their own insights, experiences, and reasons for supporting an Inclusive ordinance in Langley. It was a moving demonstration of our community's compassion, dedication, and humanity. On the agenda for this week's Council meeting is a discussion of the Langley City Attorney's advice regarding the draft ordinance, as well as, potentially, a review of the revisions that have been made to the ordinance since the March 20th meeting (at the time of this update, the revised ordinance was not yet available). It's essential that we all attend this week's Council meeting and continue to advocate for a strong ordinance that includes the two critical protections for which we have been lobbying: 1) that Langley will not collect information about anyone's immigration or religious status, and 2) that Langley will not use City resources to enforce Federal immigration actions. Please join with other Inclusive City supporters this Monday evening, April 17, 5:30PM, at Langley City Hall (112 Second Street) to show your support for these important protections for the those in our community who are most at risk under the current presidential administration.
