Reminder: Council Meeting Tonight! Very Important to Hold Our Electeds Accountable

Hi Friends, We're calling on one and all to attend and speak at the City Council meeting tonight, Monday, April 17, 5:30pm at City Hall. We must keep the pressure on. The Mayor and opponents on the Council are delaying the critical next steps they'd promised to take. Although it's been over four weeks since Councilor Rene Neff's strong ordinance was presented, nothing has happened since, including the promised review of the law by the City Attorney. And that's not OK, because our immigrant family, friends and neighbors are living in increasing fear of the Trump administration's immigration round-ups, and right now we have no enforceable protections in place. The Council needs to know that we will insist that our local elected officials keep their promises. We are not willing to be waited out while our neighbors are in danger. Our voices are the main force driving this process - let's raise them with love and integrity tonight. Our main message is: What's the hold up? This proposed ordinance reflects a principled, constitutional approach to limiting our cooperation with the Trump administration and making sure local law enforcement officers are not put in a bind. Let's make sure it gets a fair hearing in a timely way. Thank you for your continued commitment and support. See you tonight at 5:30pm at Langley City Hall!
