An Inclusive ordinance is on the agenda for Monday's Langley Council meeting! Please come and show your support.
As stated in today's South Whidbey Record, the ordinance has teeth.
The draft includes the two key protections that we have been advocating for: 1) not collecting data on residents' immigration status and religion, and 2) not spending city resources enforcing federal immigration law.
Please come to the Council meeting on Monday, March 20, at 5:30PM at Langley Methodist Church (Fellowship Hall), 301 Anthes Ave, Langley. Note that the Mayor heeded our call to move the meeting to a larger venue. Let's fill that room with supporters!
Bring your stories, your experiences, your compassion, and your values. Each of us will have two minutes to share our thoughts with the Council, Mayor, and Police Chief about why it is so very essential that we pass this ordinance, with the two critical protections in tact. Even if you don't reside within the Langley city limits, it's still important to show up and show your support.
This major step forward in our efforts to provide real protections for immigrants and Muslim Americans in our community is a direct result of all your work.
Thank you and see you Monday!
