You made a difference!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Langley City Council meeting last night! It was such a wonderful sharing of insight and stories and care. I felt honored to be in the room with all of you and to be a part of this compassionate community. Your heartfelt words to the Council made a difference. In an amazing twist that, honestly, none of us saw coming, Councilwoman Rene Neff asked that the Council approve asking the City Attorney to draft an ordinance that addresses the two critical protections for immigrants and undocumented residents that we have been asking for, so that the Council can really see what it might look like and evaluate it. She specifically asked that the City Attorney look at what other cities had done. And....the Council approved this motion with 3 in favor and one abstention! This is a significant step forward for this effort and provides a major new influx of hope for all of us. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available and about the next steps. Thanks again to everyone! One refrain is ringing in my ears this morning... "Nevertheless we persisted."
