Lane Striping, Lighting and Speed Limit Change for SR 67 in Pendleton

The Issue

There have been too many accidents in the stretch of SR 67 / SR 36 in Pendleton, Indiana.  Something needs to be done about this. A speed limit of 55 is too high. How many people have to die before something is done?

There is already pavement for turn lanes but no striping in some areas.  There are no street lights or lane striping letting drivers see the turn lanes and extra pavement to pass on the right or left around those waiting to turn. The state or county need to paint the lanes.  The state or county also need to drop the speed limit down to 45 like the rest of SR 67 / 36 between Indianapolis and Anderson.

There aren't enough lights to see the lanes and the new lanes changed after every new construction project.  So paint would be better with lights.  There are too many intersections and crossing roads and residences and businesses to be 55 mph off the Interstate and in past town thru town by the High School.

If you have seen the accidents or drivers speeding or support this petition for paint, lights and/or speed limit reduction, please sign the petition.  We will share it whenever we speak with town, county and state representatives.  Hopefully things will change for the better.  We just want safety for drivers especially our new drivers at Pendleton Heights High School and residents living in South Broadway and Huntzinger Blvd neighborhoods.

There also needs to be more protection at the intersections with better crosswalks.  Especially the closer you get to the High School where people don't even slow down for the kids.
