Stop the cull of native Magpies in Lane Cove

Dear Lane Cove Council NSW, We want to protect our native wildlife and we are opposed to the culling of native magpies, who are swooping because they are protecting their nests. Other precautions other than culling should be taken to educate the public on avoiding areas where our native birds are nesting. We have been living with swooping magpies for a long time throughout Australia understanding they get territorial of their babies. Culling them is extremely cruel and unnecessary and is a slippery slope for all protected magpies to be targeted for euthanasia during breeding season. They are a protected species, these two do NOT deserve to be murdered. You can tape areas off during nesting season, add signage, and avoid known nesting areas of birds. It is completely unacceptable to murder our gorgeous and protected wildlife. Please reconsider the decision of culling two magpies in Lane Cove and come up with a more respectful outcome for native magpies. If you have somehow convinced yourselves to allow an exception of protection laws to be able to kill our native magpies, then you can allow an exception to relocate them instead! Allowing this to go ahead will be a devastating blow for our native wildlife as well as bad press for the Lane Cove Council.
