Petition updateFree the Tigers at Houston's Downtown AquariumProtesters gather, acclaim new AZA guidelines

Free Houston Tigers

Nov 2, 2016
Last Sunday, we returned to the Downtown Aquarium to protest the white tiger exhibit and show our support for ALDF's lawsuit. This time, however, we had the weight of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' new guidelines behind us.
Just released, the AZA's tiger care manual now requires outdoor space for tigers, among other criteria. The Downtown Aquarium does not meet these requirements, and will likely lose their accreditation in 2020 when renewal is due. You can review the manual here: https://www.aza.org/assets/2332/tiger_care_manual_2016.pdf. We're hopeful that the Aquarium will choose to relocate the tigers as a result of the new requirements, and we commend AZA for their efforts.
If you want to help us continue raising awareness, there are three days left to purchase one of our shirts through Bonfire Funds. All profits from sales are put towards outreach efforts. https://www.bonfirefunds.com/free-houston-tigers
Thanks for your support! Stay tuned for further updates.
