One of the greatest harms Landon has faced is that he has learned to fear school.
So why do I keep taking him? Because he didn’t fail. The adults did.
Why should he be removed from a place where he belongs? If the adults can’t do their job can’t follow the law then it’s they who don’t belong, not him.
Removing him sends the cruel message that he did something wrong, when in truth he did nothing. It’s not his fault.
When I raised this with the principal, and she agreed by saying, “it’s not,” that was everything whether she realized it or not. She admitted in that moment that the failure was not Landon’s. It was the adults.
Because this meeting is now being shared publicly on the district’s Facebook page, here is an excerpt from LCISD Board Meeting Recorded Livestream my public comment about Landon’s exclusion, medical crisis, and advocacy for Landon’s Law.
