We, the undersigned persons of Carstairs, petition the town to revisit the bylaw from the 1940's and allow 4 laying hens, per backyard, for the purpose of eggs only.

Laying hens can be an affordable way for family's to obtain fresh eggs. For their therapeutic qualities, help to reduce kitchen food waste, and being better for the environment; having backyard chickens is a great way to have sustainable food in an expensive world.  These qualities can be had when there are rules in place, and guidelines to follow.
