Demand Compensation for Lectures Missed due to Pension Cuts
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,500!
Firstly, this petition is for Lancaster University students in support of their lecturers striking to preserve their financial security. They are, however, against having to pay for services which are not provided. If the University wants to privatise education and lecturers' pensions, they need to accept the ramifications of this: they need to give refunds should they not meet expectations.
University is seriously expensive, with the poorest 40% of UK students finishing university with £57,000 debt. We begrudgingly accept this, knowing the benefits of having higher education. However, missing 14 days of lectures could amount to around £900 of tuition fees (~£1800 for non-EU residents). As we are in no way accountable for the effects being made to university staff's pensions, we feel that this is unfair.
Sign this petition to express your support for strike action and to request your refund. Sign up for email updates to receive an invoice template once strikes are finished for us to send to the Vice Chancellor.
Emailing the Vice Chancellor with regards to refunds would also fill his inbox, increasing pressure for him to address both the lecturers' and the students' demands. (email@example.com)
