Saving the last steam powered mill in the world

I would like to bring to your attention , the plight of Queen Street Mill at Burnley, the last steam operated mill IN THE WORLD. The mill has been funded by Lancashire County council for many years but now because of budget cuts, it has to close. The proposed savings to the county budget by 2020/21 are £150,000,000 but the operating costs of the mill are about 1.66% of this. If we were talking about the Flying Scotsman or the last animal / insect in the world, there would be no end of money spent to save it but if this mill is left to rot, it will never operate again and the world will have lost the last example to be seen. Queen Street mill has been seen on film and in period drama's and schools visit often to see how they operated. The mill is grade 1 listed and the council has the duty to not only look after the building but to keep the engine and looms in an operational condition as well. It is an insult to all the people who worked so hard to operate these mills in the past, which contributed so much to the prosperity of this country and to lose the last one would be a tragedy.
