The closures will force vehicles to use smaller roads as rat-runs as the main roads in the area are already heavily congested. Through traffic comprises cars and heavy goods vehicles who will all be forced onto side roads making them more dangerous (they are already dangerous owing to over-parking so this will make it worse) and increasing pollution. Access to local amenities will also become more difficult and residents will have far few exit options.
