Re: Widening of E Kennedy Blvd From Milano Dr thru Twin Oaks Drive, Lighting & Sidewalks,

Dear Esteemed Mayor and Committee Members.

The Brookhill & surrounding Neighborhoods has had tremendous growth over the years. The Traffic alongside East Kennedy Blvd from Milano Dr thru Twin Oaks Drive is dangerous. The Buses and Cars have a very hard time driving down this street.  Additionally, the streets are dark at night and drivers cannot see pedestrians walking or crossing. The pedestrians do not have a sidewalk to walk on. The way things are now there is a tragedy waiting to happen may god protect us.

We had a meeting with many home owners in the surrounding Brook hill and Twin Oaks neighborhoods, We Suggest the Township do the following:

1.       Widen the current street to alleviate the congestion and traffic and allow for parking on both sides of the street. If we Widen the road by 10 feet (allows parallel parking) vs. 20 feet (allows head-in parking) head-in parking should be considered as that would create more needed parking spots, particularly in the area of Milano-Somerset.

2.       Provide adequate lighting for the entire East Kennedy corridor

3.       Provide A proper, wide sidewalk should be installed on the north side of Kennedy running from Twin Oaks Dr, thru the existing path and ideally until Brook Rd. If not that far, at least until Lucerne. This sidewalk need not interfere with any existing conditions on the ground.

These proposed additions will provide a safe and much needed solution to the neighborhood’s growth.
