Friend,

A lot of movement is happening behind the scenes thanks to everyone amazing efforts!

Here is the latest:

  • The initial public comment period for both applications is almost over! Please try to submit your public comment to the Department of Local Services, Permitting (DPER) TONIGHT. CLICK HERE to easily submit comments. The links to the applications are included. We have received word that since the address was incorrect on the original notice and in application documents, there will be an extended comment period. That will be sent out in an update as soon as we know.
  • A handful of amazing community members showed up at the King County Council meeting Monday of this week. They provided the council with so many reasons why they should not support industrial activity and the asphalt plant being put in our rural area, across from the Cedar River. THANK YOU! If you want your opportunity to speak to the council, their meetings will be moving to Wednesdays next month. On the 4th Wednesday of every month, show up for the public comment period of the meeting at 10:30 am.
  • King County Councilman Reagan Dunn, who has been a strong voice in our favor in King County, has begun taking steps to introduce new proposed measures to his fellow council members. Please make sure you are continuing to contact the council with your feedback.
  • The King County Democrats recently voted on a resolution to be opposed to this asphalt plant! What a huge win for our cause!

I know the next question is, WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • If you haven't seen our video PSA, click to watch it above. Please SHARE this video with your networks and encourage them to visit our website, www.noasphalt169.com
  • If the applications are approved, we will move immediately into legal action in appeals. Appeals require a great deal of monetary investment. Please CONTRIBUTE to our legal fund. https://www.gofundme.com/169asphaltplant
  • If you aren't already part of the conversation on Facebook, please JOIN us there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SR169asphalt
  • CONTACT the King County County Council, Dow Constantine, Jay Inslee, Local environmental agencies, to voice your concern.
  • VOLUNTEER! We are increasingly in need of volunteers to do various tasks. Right now we are looking for a communications coordinator to run point on our communications plan. If you or someone you know would be interested, please email us! noasphalt169@gmail.com.

Ok, if you've made it this far in the email, THANK YOU for sticking with me! We went months where it was pretty quiet, the calm before the storm.  It is now time to kick into full gear to stop the SR 169 asphalt plant!
