Why this petition matters

Started by Damali Lambert

Lake Lanier, the lake built by the the flooding of many towns in Northern Georgia. A man-made lake, built over cities. Lake Lanier has been publicly stated to be one of America's most deadliest lakes. Lake Lanier Association was formed by lake residents, individuals, families, businesses, boaters and fishermen interested in the economic and recreational aspects of Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier has become a very popular get-away destination in North Georgia.

Divers have stated that Lake Lanier conditions have been proven deadly to hundreds of people. They constantly respond to rescue and recovery calls from this lake.

Lake Lanier registers over 2 dozen deaths a year.  Just last year a father and his 9-year-old son drowned at Lake Lanier. Over 27 bodies have yet to be found since they went missing at the lake. Since the Lake was built, 675 people have died in these waters, while over 75 people have drowned at this lake, and it still continues to remain open.

The most recent death was 28-year-old Bentley Nwagbara, from Stone Mountain, GA. Bentley was one of many lives taken by this lake.

Lake Lanier is a destination that is used for profit by many residents, businesses and boaters. Keeping this lake open reflects the message that all these lives are worth economic growth. Please help us shut down this lake for once and for all.
