THIS JUST IN.  Block the Box has learned that the City is in settlement talks with the developer, with one term being a deep discount on the already below-market asking price.  Without ANY communication with the primary stakeholders, the City Council is considering rolling over in a deal FAR WORSE than the 2016 Master Plan.  After successfully defending the lawsuit, why reverse course now?  If agreed to, the Council will hamstring the Historic Preservation Commission and the Plan Commission from doing their jobs and appropriately analyzing this proposal.  This appears to be a case study in civic mismanagement and intentional community alienation.  More to come over the weekend as we analyze the details of the proposed settlement.
