Update to McKinley Condo 3 Proposal: Developer files suit
Nov 8, 2021

Dear friends,

On Wednesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. (link below), the Lake Forest Plan Commission will hear a proposal to tear down the C.T. Gunn building located at Deerpath and Bank Lane in downtown Lake Forest.  The proposed replacement structure will be over 50,000 square feet, with commercial space on the ground floor and condos above, rooftop party space, and many large balconies.  Bank Lane will be reconfigured to become a one way street for the block this would sit on, and the gateway to Lake Forest’s central business district will be decimated.

Friends, this is a call to action.  Email the Plan Commission TODAY and tell them this proposal cannot pass.  As stewards of Lake Forest, they can and should be encouraging adaptive reuse of our historic buildings.
Email the Plan Commission (addresses below) via Development Director Cathy Czerniac, and include City Manager Jason Wicha and Mayor Pandaleon.  The assault on our downtown has to stop.

This building has not been sold yet, and the proposal can absolutely be stopped.  But we need your help to do it.  Spread the word, share this email, and make your voices heard.  Thank you.
