Thank you for your support in protecting the East Lake Forest Historic District. The Plan Commission voted down the developers petition for a zoning change and a special use permit and it now goes to The City Council this Monday February 1st at 6:30 pm.
The City Council will discuss and possibly vote on 3 options:
1) To accept the Plan Commission vote against a zoning change;
2) To reject and overturn the Plan Commission vote; or
3) to send it back to The Plan Commission with direction.
It is imperative that everyone understands that the City still owns the properties that the 3rd condominium is proposed to be built on. These 2 parcels are in the historic district. Last Fall, the developer purchased a single family home next to this city-owned land, with the intent to lower the mass from 3 stories to 2 but in so doing enlarges the footprint of his building on Westminster Road. In order to accomplish this, the developer needs the city to rezone a portion of the single-family property. This property is in both the Historic District and the Overlay District, which protects open space and requires a very high standard of analysis.
If you are against a zoning change in this historic area, please:
(1) email all of the City Council members listed below with a simple statement that you oppose the developer’s request for a zoning change at 373 E Westminster:
