This week the Lake County Historical Society had a meeting to learn more about the Mary McCleod Bethune statue that will replace the EKS statue in Washington DC.

Some of the Lake County Voices of Reason members, who are also members of the Historical Society, attended to participate in a silent protest.   The Society Board learned of the protest ahead of time and had Tavares Police officers standing by to remove the people who were silently carrying signs reading "No Confederate Monuments".  They were also removed from the Historical Society Membership.   We are trying to convince the Society, and the County Commissioners, to hear the voices of the citizens who thing installing a Confederate Monument does not respect the diversity of the county.
