Lagoon Zoo Needs to be Stopped

Lagoon Zoo Needs to be Stopped

The Issue

LAGOON ZOO NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!
North of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lagoon is a popular attraction for both tourists and Utah residents alike. However, it has some glaring animal rights violations. Often overlooked, the Animal Kingdom attraction at the park is the source of these concerns. Visitors take a ride on a little train around a lake to see an assortment of different animals in a zoo. Just from a single ride through this attraction, one can immediately see that the animals are lethargic and depressed. The habitats are in shambles! THE ANIMALS ARE MISTREATED AND HAVE VERY POOR CARE CONDITIONS. This must be stopped; the issues need to be recognized by Lagoon.
IF WE DON’T STOP THIS NOW ANIMAL SUFFERING WILL CONTINUE!!
In this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCJIuT57Frg you can see a full view of the ride, AND IT IS CLEAR THAT THE CAGES JUST AREN’T BIG ENOUGH FOR COMFORTABLE LIVING
“People who don’t know each other are doing this. It’s not just our animal rights community anymore — it’s people from all walks of life who are against this," said Amy Meyer in relation to PROTESTS about the situation. People are upset by this, yet the amusement park has still DONE NOTHING.
After a popular video surfaced in 2019 of a lion roaring while laying down, which is a sign of DISTRESS, Lagoon acknowledged the report but denied that it was a distress call. Utah Animal Rights Coalition executive director Jeremy Beckham said in response, “Lagoon Amusement Park needs a reality check. It is not a zoo, it is an amusement park.” The UARC called it "disturbing" and said the animal is "obviously in extreme distress." According to Davis High News, “The USDA has repeatedly cited Lagoon for failure to comply with the federal Animal Welfare Act. Recurrent problems found by inspectors included filthy enclosures, inadequately trained employees, failure to provide sick and dying animals with veterinary care, and repeat animal deaths.” This is not ok.
THERE HAVE BEEN MANY RECORDED REPORTS OF HEALTH PROBLEMS IN THE ANIMALS GOING UNRECOGNIZED AND UNRESOLVED. In May of 2004 the USDA cited Lagoon for not providing adequate veterinary care and failing to correct their previous violation. And in July 2012 an examiner determined that Lagoon had WATER BOWLS INSIDE AN ELK PEN THAT WERE ENCRUSTED WITH DIRT AND ALGAE. Many other similar accounts have been reported and have received no official acknowledgement from Lagoon.
HELP END THE ANIMALS SUFFERING TODAY. This is the reality for many zoos around the world. So let us all do our part and stop them, one zoo at a time. Sign the petition today to help us to AT LEAST receive acknowledgement from Lagoon and put an end to this.
