Traditionally at Lafayette College, seniors who have met the academic and social standing requirements have been allowed to experience the independence of off-campus housing. In fact, many students say it is their time off-campus that allows them to cultivate a true sense of independence that prepares them well for their futures. 

This year Lafayette College has left students feeling blindsided and extremely disappointed in their college experience. After a difficult year, eligible students are not permitted by the school to live off-campus while many have made prior arrangements to do so which requires months of planning and, in some cases, financial commitments. In the scarce amount of details given to the class of 2022, it has become apparent that Lafayette College is primarily concerned with fulfilling a yearly quota of housing income through their on-campus options, disregarding the well-being of their student body.

As members of the class of 2022 at Lafayette, we deserve more respect and freedom after a turbulent and disheartening sophomore and junior experience. We understand that this past year has certainly been a challenging one, both logistically and fiscally, for millions across our country, however, as independent adults who have supported our beloved alma mater athletically, spiritually, and financially (with a yearly tuition in excess of $70,000) we demand support from the college in return.
