The park "Sanborn Park" was dedicated on Veterans' Day, November 11, 1973 to dedicate the service of Private John L. Sanborn. Who was the first Laconia Man to Die in Korea Enlisted on 17th Birthday, a Korean War veteran. the City of Laconia plans on taking the grass area next to the basketball court and turning it into a parking lot for the Laconia daily sun. This petition is to give the citizens of Laconia and Lakeport a voice to take action against putting in a parking lot where there is Green space. it is unnecessary for the City of Laconia to take this piece of land that was dedicated to a man who served in the Korean War. this park has many children that use all the facilities including the green space. We are telling the Laconia city council that they need to find a new place for their parking lot. The area of Sanborn Park is very residential, it has a lot of history. This area is a little bit more slow-paced than the busy area of downtown Laconia and towards Weirs Beach. The residents of this area would like to keep it a quiet "Low-key" district. if you agree that this area should be kept a green space for all children and adults to enjoy, then please sign this petition to help our town keep what we do have left for public recreation. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
