INNOCENT until proven Guilty?
Not always.
It is our experience that the current Justice system is NOT designed to find the
“Truth” or seek "Justice" based on what really happened.
Instead, it is more often a competition to determine which lawyer is better at winning and often the reason why the wrongly convicted cannot get out of prison.

“As I write this review, Lacie Nelson continues to languish in prison. The story of Nelson’s wrongful conviction is too complicated to detail in this short review, but suffice to say it includes a second trial after a first jury could not unanimously agree to convict, a plea offer that would have resulted in no incarceration that was declined on principle, the acquittal or exoneration of co-defendants, and serious mistakes by lawyers. More than a half-decade after a judge told me that this person was innocent, appeals have proved futile, habeas petitions have been dismissed on procedural grounds, government lawyers have opposed efforts to waive some of the procedural barriers to obtaining relief, and clemency has not been granted. It is a sickening thought that an innocent person is sitting in prison.” Justin Marceau

On April 1, 2009, Lacie Nelson experienced a cruel April Fool's Day joke that was nothing to laugh about. That was the day Lacie took residence at the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility (DWCF) in Colorado and became known as offender #145499.
Because Lacie IS INNOCENT -
she was convinced and believed the truth would come to the surface and set her free.
That did not happen.
Sadly, Lacie was given three "12 Years to Life" sentences.

Due to current Colorado Law, Lacie has been denied parole four times in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. There is NO possibility of parole - NONE - unless she is willing to admit guilt for a crime she NEVER committed.
Unless Lacie is provided Executive Clemency by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, she will spend the remainder of her life incarcerated and in prison, for a crime, she NEVER committed.
Lacie believed that the Justice system would confirm her innocence.
The system has failed Lacie. Multiple times.
What would you do if you were innocent?
Would you have agreed to a trial even when offered no jail time?
Would you be willing to go to prison and refuse to admit guilt even if you were allowed to be released?
Lacie refused to take a plea deal when originally offered no jail time.
She continues to stand for her innocence years later. She was originally arrested in August 2006.
She could be out if she were willing to sign a document and “admit guilt” in order to be deemed “compliant” for parole.
Lacie has not given up and neither are we.
Would you test the system?
Would you “take the deal?"
Lacie has been stuck in legal limbo over the years with numerous legal battles and attempts to prove her innocence.
There has been a collective effort to help right the wrongs for Lacie.
When the law professor heard the judge’s plea for help, and learned about Lacie’s journey for innocence, efforts were made to secure a competent post-conviction attorney that was willing to take Lacie’s case. In early 2019, with solid legal representation offered through Gail Johnson in Boulder, Colorado, the battle to reveal the truth began.
TRUTH MATTERS and even appointed and elected officials involved and know about Lacie are unwilling to take a stand for TRUTH and JUSTICE!!!
The phrase that you are innocent until proven guilty is not always true. She has had the option of “admitting guilt” to be released but she will not lie to do so. Please help us right these wrongs.
