The issue

Lachlan Shire Council's Management of the Condobolin Cemetery means we can no longer place trinkets, momentos, solar lights or statues on our loved ones graves at the lawn cemetery. All those that are in place will have to ne removed as soon as possible. We are only one family, but we feel it is appropriate that we share our reasons for placing "trinkets" on our fathers grave. Our Dad was a strong, dedicated family man, who loved his family with all of his heart. He spent his last 29 hours on this Earth hanging on, so he had the chance to say goodbye. Despite the pain he endured, we were grateful we got to spend those last specisl hours with him. To help ease our pain and our children's pain we visit Dad/Grandad at the cemetery, stay with him, tell him how much we miss him, and yes place trinkets and statues on his grave. It helps us, and we do that to honour the loving husband, father and grandfather he was. Two complaints from members of the public, not council staff, have prompted them "to explain" the Lawn Cemetery Policy to the community. This policy was endorsed by Councillors in January of this year. We believe if it helps your grieving process to place trinkets on your loved one's grave and maintain it, then noone should stop you or complain about it. If you DONT LIKE THIS POLICY, speak to your Ward Councillor, ring the Lachlan Shire Council and SHARE AND SIGN THIS PETITION WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW. ONLY WE CAN CHANGE THIS. SPEAK UP. To those who complained, come and sit with us for a while and listen to why we choose to honour our husband, father and grandfather in this way. You never know, you may just change your mind!
