The people of Lacey Township voted for the legalization of recreational marijuana with a two to one margin. The Mayor of Lacey Township is going to introduce an ordinance to ban all aspects of the sale and manufacturing of recreational marijuana at the township meeting on Thursday, April 22nd. The second reading of the ordinance will be on Thursday, May 13th. The vote for the legalization of recreational marijuana includes allowing sales and manufacturing in the state of New Jersey. By banning sales in our township, the committee is going against the vote of the people. Recreational marijuana is not going away, so the argument of saving our township the hassle of the disadvantages of recreational marijuana is invalid. By banning sales and manufacturing in our township, we are doing nothing but hurting ourselves. A vocal minority has been voicing their opinions at our local meetings, giving the committee the idea that the township residents are actually against the legalization of recreational marijuana. The goal of this petition is to inform our representatives that the people of Lacey Township do not want to ban sales and manufacturing in this township. I would also like to encourage anyone who does agree with this petition to come to the township meetings and voice their opinion.
