Dr Lawler, as we understand, has reluctantly resigned as a result of poor decisions higher authority has made affecting the department over an extended period of time: the ousting of her colleagues and removal of subjects and teaching opportunities, among other factors. The loss of AEC was the nail in the coffin. Dr Lawler was placed in a position where discontinuation was a better option than staying at the University. Colloquially speaking, backed into a corner. DR LAWLER'S RESIGNATION IS THE RESULT OF THE UNIVERSITY'S CUMULATIVE DECISIONS. This is why we are protesting these decisions, and why we are facing her loss. We are losing Dr Rowles as a direct result of the University failing to offer a contract renewal under existing conditions. Both losses are devastating to the department, the university and the discipline at large. This has been a long time coming, and is only the tip of the iceberg.
