Update: the Carson Shelter has decided to label Jimmy a WAIVER/RESCUE ONLY dog for food guarding. He is also CODE RED now and has been given his 72 hrs notice. He is emaciated and RO for guarding his food....wrap your head around that logic. Assholes.

This dog was at the back of the kennel when the runner approached. He was staring at the runner, so the runner went down to his level. His ears were back, had a low posture, tail tucked and his head was down low. He slowly walked over to the runner crouching down the whole time and sniffed the runner's hand. He was weary of the leash and trembled as he was being leashed. He walked out of the kennel on his own still trembling while on the leash. He by passed the dogs and ignored all the dogs barking at him on his way to the catch pen. He was nervous while collaring and avoided the dogs while greeting through the fence. He stuck to the runner with a closed mouth. He was calm at first with his tail tucked in, but ended up growling and barking at the dogs through the fence. He was muzzled and let into the yard. He kept to himself and tolerated the dogs. His muzzle was taken off when he did not show aggression when dogs would come around him. He stayed in one of the corners of the play yard and did not mind the dogs on his rear, but when they would get in his face, he would over react and bark without attacking. He was easily corrected, but the dogs were not allowed to be in his face due to his overreaction. Environmentally fearful.

Jimmy was at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body, soft eyes, neutral tail and ears were back. He sat down patiently waiting for the runner to place the leash over him. He walked out nicely without any pulling. He bypassed the other dogs in the kennels. Inside the yard, he was allowed to explore on his own for a while. When handler approached with the food bowl, Jimmy became very focused on the bowl. His hackles began to rise, body became tense and he had a hard stare. The handler was able to quickly place the food in front of him. He immediately hovered over the food and began to growl. The handler moved into Jimmy's space and he began to eat quickly, sticking his face inside the bowl. The handler attempted to touch his body with the assess-a-hand but he was very quick to snap back at the hand. He stood over the food, snarling and growling louder. The handler tried to touch the rim of the food bowl and Jimmy bit the hand multiple times. When the handler tried touching his face, he bit the hand once again. The handler was not able to remove the bowl from Jimmy, he would circle around the bowl and make sure to stay in front of the handler so that it was no possible to access the food. Even after he was done with the food, he would still lunge at the hand and handler to keep them away. Once the food was able to be removed, Jimmy displayed the same behavior when toys were presented. He became very defensive and protective of both food and toys. Jimmy will be rescue only with an indemnity waiver for resource guarding.
JIMMY keeps losing weight and they found a medical issues that may be Cancer. They are asking for help to get him RESCUED NOW.! He is amazing but needs to be an only dog in the home right now.. Please SHARE, he needs a FOSTER and RESCUE to save his life. Thanks!!
