MAY 3, 2017 — This is OLIVER from the Carson Shelter. OLIVER was rescued by The Animal Debt Project at the same time as Sonny. A Carson shelter worker walked Oliver out of Carson COVERED in a towel to hide the fact that Oliver was severely emaciated and we later found out, very malnourished. Oliver is a big, beautiful and handsome black dog, but when he left Carson, his fur was dull and his skin was flaking off so badly that patches of his fur appeared white. Oliver is in his FOREVER home with his MOM and 4 furry siblings. Oliver FITS into this family like he has been there his entire life. His mom and I both think that Oliver could be a therapy dog as he senses when his smaller sister, Versace, who is very ill, is in distress; Oliver will go and sit beside her until she is past the crisis. They sleep curled up together every night and it is clear that he provides comfort for her. Oliver's mom spent the first 3 nights with him sleeping on the floor since this is where he felt most comfortable - with the other 4 dogs on the bed watching over their mom and new brother. Oliver still suffers some PTSD and his mom will sit with him until it passes. Oliver is VERY LOVED and is so amazing. THIS IS A WAIVER DOG FROM CARSON! Oliver would have been PTS under their "new" policy. Oliver has a new life, a new family, and a bright future - all because he was allowed to be RESCUED and ADOPTED! WE MUST CHANGE THIS POLICY! Dogs must be given a SECOND chance at a life!
