Dear signer and supporter,
over 30 000 signatures. Great, that makes me happy. Simply great!!!!
But there must be many, many more.
As written before, later this year this Petition will become an EU Petition, to request the EU and the Commission not to support bullfighting neither through agricultural subsidies nor other tax-financed payments indirectly.
Naturally, for the Spanish Government and the Bullfight Industry the bullfight is a tradition and the highest cultural asset. Such things are deeply rooted and this archaic attitude cannot be overcome with reason and good words. Combating these kinds of culture and tradition is almost impossible, given the narrow-mindedness attached to these things.
The English Formula 1 Racing Driver Lewis Hamilton gave a clear statement and requests the Spanish government to stop bullfighting forever. The reaction of the government and the bullfighters is of course foreseeable.
Citation from www.marca.com:
With Formula 1 still on a hiatus as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been more attention towards the social messages sent out by drivers, and Lewis Hamilton has called out Spain for its bullfighting tradition.
Hamilton had previously criticised his fellow drivers for not showing a public reaction to the murder of George Floyd, whilst also calling for the removal of statues in England of historical figures who had taken part in slavery during their lifespans.
Now, though, Hamilton has turned to another cause, making a post on Instagram with a photograph of a dead bull.
"Spain, this is truly disgusting," Hamilton posted.
"Children in Spain learn to torture and kill bulls at the age of 14.
"We ask the Ministry of Education to close bullfighting schools immediately, you can help by sharing this request."
Citation End.

Bullfighting can only be financially starved. When it comes to money, it is also in politics often the case that suddenly even traditions and cultural assets are forgotten.
Therefore please continue to share, share and redistribute this petition. Thank you.
In this connection, I would also like to refer to the UN petition of the late Peter H. Arras, which is being continued by a good friend.
