The Oakwood Park has evolved into a mixed use park, welcome to families and dog owners. Some disgruntled families are trying to exclude dog owners from exercising and playing with their dogs in this park. There are a dearth of dog parks in the area, and the beach is currently off limits to dogs. 

The Westminster Park is run down and overrun by a homeless presence, and is not a good option. The dog owners at Oakwood have been responsible in cleaning up after their pets. Of course, occasionally they will miss a pick up. Many people’s families are their pets. They should not be penalized for the failure of a couple of dog owners. 

We need to keep the park open to people AND pets. Instead of just banning a group, why don’t we seek an alternative so that everyone can enjoy the Oakwood Park. Possible alternatives are mixed use, a spatial division, or a time division. Let’s make this work for everybody, not just a privileged few.
