Joyalukkas stores are using mannequins dressed up as Hindu Gods to sell jewellery in some of their stores in India (Jolly Silks/Joy Alukkas , Thiruvalla Store). This is hurtful to Hindus who worshipe these images. They are using mannequins that are caucasian in appearance and crudely dressing them up as Shiva and Parwati and displaying them in the store in a disrespectful manner. Hindus do not walk into temples of Shiva and Parwati with their shoes on, let alone pose the Gods in awkward cartoonish stances. Whether Joyalukkas did this in jest, or out of ignorance or even out of a misplaced sense of goodwill, this has caused nothing but deep resentment in millions of Hindus.
