Get L.L. Bean to extend their OCBD collar points to 3.5 inches
Dear LL Bean team,
First things first, I love your products. As a matter of fact, we ALL love your products. Your commitment to quality clothing, specifically, your commitment to improving the quality of our lives is commendable. Personally, I am a frequent LL Bean shopper and credit card user. With that in mind, I write on behalf of myself and the broad Ivy League/trad style adherents here in the United States when I implore you to extend the collar points on your Oxford cloth shirts to 3.5 inches.
While I am sure that you receive countless inquiries/messages like this on a daily basis and they are probably disregarded, please consider your own bottom line and the positive impact this alteration would have for your company. If you consider the notion that an affordable OCBD with a proper collar roll does not exist, it is a space that you can fill quite easily. When compared to your competitors— Brooks Brothers, J. Press, Mercer, Ratio, Gitman, and Proper Cloth, most of us cannot afford and refuse to pay $100 on a shirt. Your shirts are already made with 100% cotton just like your competitors’. The only component that is missing is the extended collar. If you were to increase the length of the collar points, I say this with the utmost confidence, your OCBD will sell out with the seasonal rapidity of the supplex shorts (if not more).
The broad trad and Ivy League style community has been looking for an affordable OCBD for years, but our hopes have proved in vain. It is with sincerity that I come to you today, and I hope to hear from you. Please let me know what we must do in order to convince you to make this much-desired change.
Respectfully,
Isaiah McGahee (@ivystyleonabudget on Instagram)
