On October 26, 2015, the Susquehanna University community received word that the Board of Trustees had voted to eliminate the Crusader nickname from its association with the school, and that a process would be started to choose a new nickname and mascot going forward.

The signers of this petition disagree with that decision, and would like the opportunity to have our voices heard in what we hope is a more comprehensive manner.  Alumni opinion was solicited largely by online/email survey, and a number of alumni have noted their lack of knowledge of the existence of the survey, despite the University's attempts to distribute it widely.  

Since the decision was announced, a large number of people have come forward stating their disagreement - many of whom were not able to give their opinions at the time.

We will be forwarding a Letter of Dissent to the Board shortly to formalize our disagreement with the decision.  In the meantime, please add your support below, and ask the Board of Trustees to reverse their decision.
