On, or about, July 14th 2016 Ms. Dani Mathers took a private of photo of an unnamed female patron at a local private gym and posted said photo to the online social media application Snapchat. The photography allegedly took place at LA Fitness Universal City located at 3400 CAHUENGA BLVD WEST LOS ANGELES, CA  90068.

Her actions violate 18 U.S. Code § 1801 - Video voyeurism which states: "Whoever, in the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, has the intent to capture an image of a private area of an individual without their consent, and knowingly does so under circumstances in which the individual has a reasonable expectation of privacy, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

(1) the term “capture”, with respect to an image, means to videotape, photograph, film, record by any means, or broadcast;

(2) the term “broadcast” means to electronically transmit a visual image with the intent that it be viewed by a person or persons;"

While Ms. Mathers has since apologized for her offense she needs to be brought to court with criminal charges as she has committed a criminal act.  Her act affects the community in that people do not feel safe changing or showering in what should be a safe and private environment.
