Kyle Kulinski: Rejoin the Justice Democrats Immediately
The Issue
Following the Justice Democrats' expulsion of The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur from their organization, founder Kyle Kulinski resigned from the board as well, in protest.
He stated that this action was taken out of principle: the majority of the board wished Uygur gone, and so he felt that his choices were either to subvert democracy by keeping Uygur on the board, or 'be spineless' in removing him. Seeing no good answer, he resigned, and much of the group's media presence leaves with him.
Here, we tell him that he has a third option: publicly state his disagreement with the board's decision, but abide by it nonetheless. Following a decision you disagree with isn't spineless. It's a commitment to democracy. And resigning from the organization will do nothing but hurt the fifty candidates nationally who struggle for media coverage as they implement the People's Platform which Justice Democrats supports: Medicare For All, tuition-free college, restrictions on oil drilling coupled with some infrastructure spending to create new green energy jobs, the Raise the Wage and Automatic Voter Registration acts, and many more.
If Kyle does stand for these policies and a better future for the United States, he has no good option but to rejoin the organization which fights for them. We cannot afford anything else. As Kyle himself says, this isn't a movement about him, or Cenk Uygur, or any other partisan infighting. This is a movement about better policies for the average American, and we can not let it fracture.
