The Issue
Kutztown University added 4 Kiosks to the bottom part of South Dining Hall to take all the orders of food for downstairs, possibly for the sake of efficiency or not wanting to waste food. I don't know why because literally no other part of either dining hall has this Kiosk system. What was it like before Kiosks? Super efficient pizza station with 4 pizzas cooked under heat lamps, and you could grab and go with the slices you wanted. Avalanche Grill where a person would take your order when the chefs were ready, as to not overflow the staff with dozens of orders. Also at Avalanche you could get fries or onions rings instantly because they were made in the frier. Kafe where you could also quickly walk up, ask for a desert, cappuccino, coffee, hot chocolate etc. and be on your way. With Kiosks? Ginormous lines at the Kiosks during important hours (5 to 10 min wait just to order). Waiting 15 to 20 min for food because nothing is premade now (overall like 25 min for a fries, a personal pizza, or burger). Pizza that is burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside because staff has to rush to make the made-to-order pizza.
And just a side note, I'm not blaming the staff working at South, they're doing the best they can with this system. I've talked to some about it and they also seem to think it's a worse system.
I wish KU would have asked students if there was a problem in South before making such a drastic change. I never had to wait more then a few minutes for my food, and the pizza was never so inconsistent
The solution? Go back to the old South Dining Hall.
TL;DR: I want my pizza quickly, not burnt on the outside and not cold on the inside.
