I am writing to you as a representative of Voices of Ku-ring-gai, a new local community action group dedicated to fostering community participation in politics and democracy, particularly at the local government level.

Voices of Ku-ring-gai is more than just a group; it is a movement, a gathering of like-minded individuals who are committed to:

• Safeguarding the stunning natural environment that makes Ku-ring-gai so unique.
• Restoring transparency and integrity in local government decision-making.
• Amplifying the voices of our community members to ensure they are heard and acknowledged.
• Supporting local government candidates whose values and goals align with our own.
• Engaging in a variety of activities ranging from community education to fundraising and impactful campaigns.
• Encouraging and inspiring the younger generation to actively participate in our community and political affairs.

Recent decisions by our local council have led to the formation of our group. These include lack of community consultation in relation to Norman Griffiths Oval synthetic field in West Pymble, the NSFA development at North Turramurra and, the proposed lighting at the Glade in Wahroonga. Our public open spaces are valuable assets that should be managed carefully for future generations.

With the upcoming local government elections just 11 months away, the time for action is now. We are at a pivotal moment where we can send a resounding message to our local council about the values and changes we wish to see in our community.
