Hi Friends of Norman Griffiths Oval,
You may have noticed that fences associated with the construction of the Norman Griffiths Oval Synthetic Field are already under construction - and we still have not seen the any environmental assessments (Review of Environmental Factors REF) promised months ago.
Not only this, on 17 December last year construction material arrived at the oval - which promptly disappeared the minute we asked questions.
All this points to a seemingly predetermined outcome for what will happen at Norman Griffiths, and a complete lack of respect for due process.
Even more extraordinary is that we understand that council is planning to give ratepayers ONE WEEK to examine the REF - which remember is paid for by the contractor who will build the synthetic field if council gives it the green light.
We are in a biodiversity crisis and the critically endangered plant community that surrounds the oval and Quarry Creek which runs under it deserves more. In fact we all deserve better governance than this!
We need your urgent support in emailing Ku-ring-gai Council to ask for 4-6 weeks to review the REF
Key contact emails:
General Manager: mckee@@krg.nsw.gov.au or awatson@krg.nsw.gov.au
Councillors: councillors@krg.nsw.gov.au
Suggested wording:
Dear General Manager,
I understand that the Review of Environmental Factors for the Norman Griffiths Synthetic Field Development is to be released for public feedback shortly.
The local community should have sufficient time to review this report before any construction begins.
I request that you give the community 4-6 weeks to review and respond to the REF, as you have stated you would in previous correspondence.
Kind regards,
Your support is critical at this time.
