One of the biggest titandioxid (TiO2) producers in the world, Kronos Inc, is about to buy rutile from a Norwegian mine that wants to dump 250 million tons of mining tailings in a national salmon fjord.  

Norway is one of two countries in the world that allows new projects where mining companies can dump mining waste in the ocean. The project in Førdefjord, west of Norway, was first rejected by the environmental authorities, but got approved after the government told the authorities to value the socio-economic effects higher than the environmental consequences. Kronos Inc is now going to buy rutile from Nordic Mining, the company behind this environment harming project.

Environmental organisations in Norway has for many years fought against the mining dumping. In 2016, Norways biggest environmental youth organisation, Natur og Ungdom (Nature and Youth) led civil disobedience actions to stop the test drilling. Since 26. april has there been new civil disobedience actions to stop construction work for the project.

Sign the petition to tell Kronos Worldwide Inc. to withdraw from buying rutile from this project.
