Mark Sumrell shoplifted a $39 jacket at a Kroger store in 2003 and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in the Mississippi State Penitentiary for this crime. More here.

Sumrell, now 50 years old, has served half of his adult life toward this sentence and will never be released from prison without clemency or legislation. Kroger should release a statement saying that Sumrell has now been punished enough for the crime he committed against them.
